Walking Holidays with Shannon Region Trails

The Harbour Master’s House B&B welcomes walkers to Shannon Harbour. We offer our guests a range of facilities to ensure their walking holiday is a great success:

• Drying rooms for all outdoor gear

• Packed lunches available & fridges for storage

• Laundry facilities – self service

• Secure car parking

• Range of local knowledge and maps

From our stunning location on the banks of the Grand Canal, there is a range of walking routes to choose from. Indeed, it is possible to walk the length of the canal from Dublin to Shannon Harbour. Along this route there are many additional walkways of interest. See http://www.waterwaysireland.org/DE/grandcanal/  for details.

Slieve Bloom Mountains

Explore the mountains, by foot, bicycle, horse or car. The Slieve Bloom Mountains are a Hill Walkers paradise. The mountains are not so high as to be dangerous, yet are not so low that they can still provide a challenge to every grade of walker. There is a wide choice of looped walks, long distance marked walks or simply take to the hills with a good map and compass. There are regular organised walks led by experienced local guides who are only too willing to share their knowledge of the mountains.
