Shannon Harbour is built on the banks of the Grand Canal and renowned for its excellent coarse fishing spots along with being one of the best areas for trout and salmon fishing in Ireland. Fishing Map of local area

Were we a located is the perfect spot to set out for a fishing trip with many small rivers emptying into the River Shannon, these included the Little Brosna River, the River Blackwater, the Silver River, the Camcor River, the Gowlan River, River Bullock Island and the canal itself. If you want big water then Lough Derg is just a short drive away. The fly fishing in the area is also superb; you can always find a quiet spot to while away your time. You could say at Shannon Harbour we are awash with rivers canals and Loughs.

It is also true for the fish you can land locally; they range from, salmon, trout (Brown, Rainbow and the local Camcor), roach, rudd, bream, tench, hybrids, eels, pike and perch. As we mentioned the rivers in our local area are full of fish you can always find a quite spot with just yourself the river and our local wild life. For the fisherman who likes to lake fish there are a number of managed lakes and pounds like Cloghan just a few moments drive up the road. Shannon Harbour will keep any fisherman happy.

Fishing accessories are available locally in Banagher or Birr, as are rods tackle lures and flies.

There is a bait shed, drying room, fridges and storage for the angler including private enclosed parking at the Harbour Masters House. Bait is also available locally.

The Harbour Masters House is the perfect spot for a fishing vacations, long weekends or short break. Our bed and breakfast is located right on the banks the Grand Canal with easy access to fishing spots right out of our front door.
